I had this album in cassette tape back when it came out and lost it in the transition to CD and recently repurchased it in MP3 format. I remember my younger self loving it but that my slightly older self rejected it in favor of the Bon Scott albums and the Back in Black and For Those About to Rock albums and never felt compelled to replace it. After getting it again this many years later I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like it and appreciate it. One of the reviewers pointed out a weakness of it, which is the vocals are a bit muddy and inarticulate throughout the album, probably due to somewhat poor production. But I think the guitar riffs and solos are quite good and creative, and the tone is pretty unique for the band but hits a nice spot for them. I think my favorite on the album is “Sink the Pink” but there are plenty of good tracks here. In fact, if you dig the overall sound on this one, it’s hard to say every track isn’t pretty damn good.

I’d give it 5 stars except it doesn’t really stack up to their very best. Maybe that’s not totally fair but honestly compared to Back in Black or Highway to Hell or Let There be Rock, not much can really hold up to the creativity and consistency. It’s super amazing that this band has made so many great albums over the years and is still touring. It still breaks my heart that Malcolm passed, he’s one of the most underrated guitar heroes of our time and I miss him dearly. His riffs and rhythms are the core of my main musical influences.
